About Komodo Dragons
Komodo dragons (Varanus komodoensis), the largest lizards in the world are found on the Indonesian island of Komodo. They are also found on the neighbouring islands of Rinca and Flores.Komodo dragons are extremely vulnerable to extinction due to human activity. Numbers have been reduced to a mere fraction of what they were - through habitat loos, loss of prey species, and hunting. They are listed as 'vulberable' in the IUCN (World Conservation Union) Red List of Threatened Species.
