About Greater Angle-Wing Katydids
Katydids are relatives of both crickets and grasshoppers known for the distinct clicking noise they make. In fact, their common name was derived from the sound they make; their repetitive clicks sound like someone saying “Ka-ty-did.”
Like grasshoppers, katydids have large back legs for jumping. They also have wings, which resemble leaves of plants, which they use for flying away from threats. Since they stay on top of plants, where they eat the leaves, their leaf-disguise helps them in hiding from predators.
